The Board

Jenny Della-Vedova

Chair

Jenny is part of a family with multiple members diagnosed with FH.  She was the first in her family diagnosed and facilitated her siblings and their children being tested.  Jenny is passionate about creating awareness of FH across Australia and increasing detection in adults and children.  The detection and management of her great nephew at 8 years old means he can live a normal life expectancy and not have to deal with premature heart disease, lessening his life by 20 years.

Much of Jenny’s career has included leading organisations and teams including advocating for change, marketing and brand development across multiple industries.  It is these skills she brings to FH Australia as the organisation is positioned to become the “Voice for Inherited Cholesterol” in Australia

Jenny has a Bachelor of Commerce and is an accredited career coach with Career Development Association of Australia.

Christine Tawtel (Hendricks)

Deputy Chair

Christine and her extended family were aware of their inherited high cholesterol but through a lack of information were never properly managed as FH patients until recently. As a result, she is passionate about identifying FH in the community and supporting individuals and families to navigate their FH journey from diagnosis to treatment and management.  She has extensive experience in the not-for-profit community and human services sectors and has recognised strengths and skillsets in relationship-building, community engagement, government liaison, effective engagement with diverse stakeholders, and project management.

She holds a BA (Hons) in Liberal Arts and a Graduate Diploma in Community Services Management. She is a dual Australian-Canadian citizen.

Jing Pang

Secretary

Jing is a researcher in the field of FH and has an extensive network of collaborators and stakeholders, both nationally and internationally. Jing graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Science (Nutrition) (Hons I) and from the University of Western Australia with a PhD (Medicine) in lipidology.

Jing is passionate about evidence-based holistic care, research and patient advocacy. With her own lived experience of FH, Jing provides a gateway to understanding the complex challenges faced by individuals and families with FH.

Fern Dyball

Treasurer

Fern is a seasoned executive and governance professional with over three decades of experience across the resources, infrastructure, consulting, and not-for-profit sectors.

Fern’s career spans senior leadership roles including General Manager, Business Improvement and General Manager Commercial at Rio Tinto, and earlier positions with PwC and Argyle Diamonds. Her expertise is underpinned by a strong foundation in business analysis and strategic planning.

She has served as President of The Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bones) Society of Australia, Deputy Chair and Support Group Representative for ConnectGroups (Alike) and Board Member of the Genetic and Rare Disease Network.

Fern holds a Bachelor of Economics from Murdoch University and a Graduate Diploma of Business Administration and is a passionate advocate for community health and inclusion, particularly in the rare disease and disability sectors.

Brian Murphy

Lived Experience Member

Brian is a senior marketing and brand strategist with over 15 years of experience helping purpose-driven organisations connect with their communities. He also lives with an elevated Lp(a), so his connection to this cause is both personal and professional.

Brian joined the FH Australia Board of Management to help raise awareness of FH and elevated Lp(a), particularly through real-life stories and personal experiences. He believes there’s a huge opportunity to bring FH and elevated Lp(a) into the spotlight — making it easier for people to get diagnosed earlier and feel supported in managing their condition.

He’s especially passionate about building a stronger voice for the inherited high cholesterol community and finding new ways to reach people through digital and everyday conversations.
